A pair in blackjack means having your first two cards as cards of the same value. If you are new to learning blackjack, there are strategies that you can use to maximize the possibility of winning with a pair card.
If you've got a pair of aces in blackjack, choose to split regardless of the face up card the dealer has. This will allow you to select a card or several cards to add to each of the value of your aces.
In blackjack, if the cards you have are two tens, it is best to stand. That ways, you get a sum of twenty, which is very close to twenty-one, which is the goal of the game.

If you were given a pair of fours in blackjack, split only if the dealer's card if five or six. In other situations, it is best to hit.
Lastly, if your cards are either a pair of twos or a pair of threes, split if the dealer's face up card is from two to seven. If it's from eight to ten, or an ace, blackjack experts suggest hitting.
These strategies are recommended if the blackjack game uses at least three decks, the blackjack pay is three to two and the dealer has to stand on a soft seventeen.
